Jesus, There's Good Music Out There...

My guitarist Marcio has been gone now for a couple of months and I'm really longing to sing again. I had contact with a Chilean guitarist and met a few times with a French guitarist. Both seemed promising but both fizzled out. My latest lead is a (female) Japanese guitarist who wants to form sort of a bluesy rock band. I met with her yesterday and liked her a lot which was promising. You have to have that special click with the person you make music with and I might have that with her. But I'm not sure if I can sing the music she's interested in or if, ultimately, I would want to. Time will tell. I'll give it a try.

But that's not the point of this post. The point is I remembered how much fabulous music there is out there. It was so great to rediscover some tonight on YouTube surfing. Here were some of the highlights:

1. You Don't Know What Love Is, sung by Nina Simone

Gotta sing this one someday for sure.

2. Rocky Racoon

Sometimes I forget how great The Beatles really were and then I'm always astonished. They just wrote some damn good songs. I haven't heard Rocky Racoon in years. Check out the sweet video someone made to it.

3. Something's Got a Hold On Me, Etta James

Damn, how does she do that? Gotta love Etta James.

4. Strange Brew, Cream

My dad was a huge Cream fan. I inherited his Disraeli Gears album and the silver one (name escapes me) in high school. He was proud I could appreciate it. I wouldn't say it's my favorite music in the world, but Strange Brew definitely brings back some memories.

5. Get Out of Town, Holly Cole

Really like Holly Cole. Also haven't listened to her in years.

6. Make You Feel My Love, Adele

Ok, so I guess she's a superstar now or something. I don't find the song that great and find the violin cheesy, but I love a great voice when I hear one and that's what the girl has.

My vintage clothing and handmade jewelry shop will be on heartsy for the next couple of days. If you don't know what heartsy is, it's a platform where you can buy vouchers for store credit an various online shops. My voucher costs $22 and will give you $55 in credit. You can use it to buy any of the fabulous vintage European clothing and dirndls I sell as well as my handmade jewelry. There are also special perks if you get a friend to buy, so spread the word!

The vouchers are also valid for 3 months, so if you'd like to buy one now and shop later that's also no problem. But you better act fast. The offer is only for a few days and only 100 vouchers are available, so once they're gone, they're gone. To take a closer look, click here: Curious Knopf on Heartsy
